Reflecting on My PSJH Journey So Far

Today, I’m headed to New York City to speak on behalf of PSJH at the Ideagen Summit, where our president & CEO, Rod Hochman, will also speak and accept an award, and where Rhonda Medows, M.D., president of Population Health and CEO of Ayin Health Solutions will address a group in a conference hall at the United Nations. In my conversation on stage at the NASDAQ, I know I’ll be asked about my journey to health care from Microsoft, the potential of technology to improve health care, and about how our work in IS ties to our 165-year Mission as a combined organization. I remain very excited to talk about these at any opportunity and I want you to feel some of that same excitement as part of IS.

I am deeply thankful to all the teachers I’ve had in IS and across PSJH, who have patiently answered my questions and even challenged my assumptions as I’ve undergone the steep learning curve that is a system as complex as ours, a Mission as precious as ours, and a health environment as complex as ours. I’ve been feeling reflective as I take stock of my first six months leading IS and getting to know PSJH. I wrote a blog post about how I’ve tried to bring myself up to speed, but also bring other leaders and our PSJH partners onboard with our IS strategic vision. It’s only then that we can reimagine the status quo.

In this IS Update, I asked Tabitha Lieberman and Brett MacLaren to share a little bit about their experience at Epic UGM at the end of last month. It was a great first UGM and I share Tabitha’s sentiment that it feels great to go to an industry event with our peers and for IS to be held in such regard as leaders in EHR, in data conversion, and instance alignment. Time and again, I’m so proud to be at events representing IS in the outside world and across PSJH, where we are leading health care in so many areas and being looked to for that leadership.

Finally, a big welcome to two additional members of my executive leadership team that started this week. I look forward to you all meeting Rick Stover, our new CTO and SVP of TEO, as well as Adam Zoller, our new CISO and SVP of Information Security. We’ll plan on seeing them at the IS town hall on September 23, getting grounded on our priorities across IS and how to end the year strong, as well as have another lively Q&A.
