Renewed Focus on Informatics and Clinical Experience

The following email from B.J. Moore, EVP/CIO, IS & RESO, was sent to all IS & RESO caregivers on Monday, November 21, 2022.

IS & RESO caregivers,

After having completed the massive endeavor of having one Epic across Providence, we are now well-positioned to refocus our efforts to improve the experience of our clinical caregivers, better enable clinical operations through recovery and growth efforts, and fully leverage the power of technology in support of clinical care. To do this well, particularly at a time of significant financial constraints, requires us to build even stronger partnerships with all division and clinical leadership, identify the right priorities, and maximize the impact of our combined talent and subject matter expertise in informatics and across Information Services (IS).

I am pleased to announce that, effective today, Ivette de Rubens has been promoted to the role of SVP of Strategy, Informatics & Clinical Experience. Ivette joined Providence over three years ago and, in that time, has been an instrumental part of my leadership team and the incredible progress we have made across IS & RESO. This new role allows Ivette to apply many of her proven strengths, including her ability to envision successful strategies and bring them to reality, develop trust-based partnership across the organization and utilize her deep experience and leadership skills gained over a 30+ year career. This is also a recognition of the criticality of the work we are centralizing under her. The Strategy team will continue to partner closely with me and my leadership team to support the direction and ongoing modernization of IS & RESO practices and delivery capabilities. The Clinical Informatics team will continue delivering invaluable expertise and support to clinicians and patients across the system, while, at the same time, finding ways to scale-up our impact even more across IS and the divisions to drive clinical end-to-end solution success. The creation of the recently announced VP roles for Clinical Solution Delivery aligned to each Division, will be part of this new org and help us build deep strategic partnerships with Division leaders and their teams to achieve the right balance across clinical, operational, and technological strategies and priorities in support of Providence’s success.

The creation of this new organization also speaks to the need to build more seamless alignment across IS and system stakeholders. As we shared at Open Forum last week, we have committed to an increasingly strong cross-functional partnership across pillars and we have elevated Clinical Experience as a top priority in our 2023 IS & RESO Strategic Plan with Clinical & Revenue Cycle Applications under Adar Palis, Clinical Technology Services under Chris Briggs, and Strategy, Informatics and Clinical Experience now under Ivette, working closely together.

Please join me in congratulating Ivette on her new role and thank you for the work each one of you do every day for Providence caregivers, our patients, and our Mission.

Wishing all who celebrate a wonderful Thanksgiving.

-BJ
