New Quarter, New Possibilities

Hope you all enjoyed a nice Easter Weekend, and feel the same the sense of possibility that I do with spring here and the start of another quarter.

This coming month, the countdown to our May 15 Epic go-live for Orange County/High Desert (OCHD) starts, with final cutover beginning April 24. In our 10-year journey with Epic, this is a massive milestone for Providence and one of the biggest Epic go-lives in health system history.

This time due to COVID-19 precautions, our Clinical & Revenue Cycle Applications and Clinical Informatics teams, and others across IS will support go-live in a different way than the normal larger command center approach. As they work from each hospital and Anaheim, please help us ensure they’re positioned for success. Let’s do what we can to both cheer on our teams, while trying to ease their way. We’ll look forward to celebrating when we cross the finish line on this effort that has been several years in the making.

As our response to COVID within our system and in our communities stabilizes, I am going to give renewed and increased attention to listening to and connecting with our regional partners. I plan to share more soon about how we’ll be approaching this and what we learn.

Finally, teams across IS & RESO work to prepare for the future of a more flexible, hybrid work environment. RESO and IS teams are very closely involved, coordinating with the system on how we’ll keep our caregivers appropriately protected, the reconfiguration of our administrative buildings, defining and deploying standard equipment for these spaces, and helping deploy the new iOffice platform, which we’ll use to view and book those available workspaces. As you may have seen in system newsletters last week, we’ll return to offices in a more flexible form without assigned spaces, as our work requires, starting no earlier than July, but as late as fall 2021. The committee discerning this meets again in late-April and we expect system-wide guidance by May. Also, starting on May 1, small group on-site meetings will be allowed, in specific conference rooms with strict safety protocols (including wearing masks regardless of vaccination status), and senior leader approval.

Please review the full system memo below and talk to your core leader if you have any questions.

I’m excited for what Q2 has in store and thank the over 1,800 caregivers who joined our March 24 IS & RESO Open Forum. We’ll meet again over that venue on April 29, so look for an invite from me in the coming days.

Thank you for your great work and commitment to our Mission!
