Right after Christmas, Tabitha Lieberman, SVP of Clinical & Rev Cycle Applications, shared the output of of critical cross-functional work that has been underway since February 2018 to improve the Epic deployment process.
Utilizing lean improvement methodologies and other best practices, the goal of this work is to help us become consistently reliable in meeting customer expectations, achieve cost-efficient, high-quality delivery for Providence St. Joseph Health, and create additional capacity to meet the ever-increasing demand for our Epic resources.

We had known that Community Technologies VP Sherry Maughan was planning to retire at the end of 2018 since last spring, but now she has finally departed. The CT team and IS bid her a fond farewell before the holidays, but we wanted to feature one, final congratulations on a career well-served and to re-run the farewell message she shared in the CT newsletter right before the holidays.

The Providence St. Joseph Health Community Technologies team has a big, exciting announcement. Samaritan Healthcare has just signed the Epic Connect contract and will be joining the Epic Connect family of clients. This bring our total of Epic Connect clients to 61, which includes 46 clinics and 15 hospitals.

On the night of Friday, December 28, the WAN (wide area network) transformation program completed a successful cutover of the Diamond Bar St. Joseph Heritage Medical Group clinic site in eastern Los Angeles County to its new WAN circuit. This final clinic cutover for 2018 marked the achievement of the program’s goal of completing 75 percent of identified WAN upgrades by the end of the calendar year – some 379 sites!

When the temblor rolled across Anchorage, IS knew it would be one of the most mission-critical groups that would have to assess and address impacts for PSJH in Alaska.

For December, our IS Mission focus is on providing pajamas for hospitalized children. It’s a comfier, more home-like alternative to hospital gowns.
Some locations are also coordinating stocking (socks) drives to provide cozy socks on the feet of homeless community members in shelters or being reached on the streets.
