Adam Zoller Shares Exciting New Security Capabilities

Starting in the 4th quarter last year, we began evaluating capabilities to replace these solutions with an end goal of simplifying and modernizing our security ecosystem with cutting-edge security technologies. The solutions we chose integrate cleanly into our tech stack (whether on-premise or in the cloud), are OS agnostic, but take advantage of our cloud-first, Azure-centric approach.

IS Purchase Approval Process and PO Requirement

To have a better control of spend and to ensure all purchases are adequately funded and approved by the appropriate leaders, we are rolling out a new process within Information Services.

IS policy requires all purchases to have a purchase order (PO). Until the PO has been issued to the vendor, work cannot begin and products cannot be shipped. In addition, for purchases over $5,000, we are implementing an IS Approval Form. This form has been piloted within TEO since December and we are now extending its use across Information Services.

Preparing to Transition Select Caregivers to Teams Calling

Across PSJH, Shared Services caregivers, such as those in Renton, Irvine and regional system offices, with dedicated phone numbers will transition to Microsoft Teams for voice calls in the first half 2020.

A proof of concept began in mid-December 2019, with TEO program operations being the first team to test Teams Calling as early adopters. Next, all of TEO, then all of IS will begin using Teams Calling instead of their traditional desk phones for voice calls this month and next.

Continuing Rollout for Azure MFA Remote Access Across PSJH on Jan. 19

Last month at Dec. 5 town hall with CTO Rick Stover, we shared how single sign-on with multifactor authentication (MFA) is yet another facet of remote access and security that Azure will support for PSJH. He also mentioned how we’ll be testing tools like MFA via Azure SSO within IS to ensure they function smoothly before releasing them to other PSJH Shared Services groups and then to the wider enterprise. See article.

Now, in regional system newsletters across PSJH, caregivers are being reminded this transition to Azure-enabled MFA for remote single sign-on access to applications through web browsers goes into effect Sunday, January 19.

An Exciting New Year Ahead for IS

Happy New Year! I hope you enjoyed your holidays with your families and friends.

On Tuesday, Jan. 7, I was excited to lead another IS Open Forum with over 1,500 of our IS family joining me and the exec team on Teams.

It was great to finally see and hear directly and in real-time from Murali Krishna, our new SVP/Country Manager of Providence Global Center in Hyderabad, India. He has been at our Renton offices over the past few days for meetings and shared an exciting status report in the run-up to our first wave of PGC hiring and the late-February launch event with members of the Hyderabad technology community and media.

It was also great to hear from Chris Briggs on our Service Experience modernization efforts and from Ryan Klein on the upcoming 2020 milestones for Modern Workplace. Both are critical drivers of our 2020 IS priority around caregiver experience and productivity.
