Upcoming Microsoft ‘Excite Days’ Go Virtual

In response to system requests that in-person trainings for our caregivers be re-scoped to virtual sessions, due to COVID-19 concerns, we’re changing the format of our upcoming Microsoft “Excite Days.”

The good news about our shift to virtual “Excite events” is that we’re now able to offer this valuable Teams and Office 365 training with Microsoft partners to caregivers beyond the originally-targeted Portland and Southern California locations.

Last Thursday, March 5, we heard from CIO B.J. Moore and our IS executive team on another well-attended IS Open Forum.

More on the Future of Desk Phones and our Transition to Microsoft Teams Calling

As we shared last month, we’re transitioning select caregivers, depending on role and need, to placing and receiving calls using Teams as a “soft phone,” instead of using traditional desk phones. To inform this process, Shared Services caregivers, including all of IS, received a survey about how we use our desk phones.

Caregivers in other areas, such as our hospitals, clinics, and call centers, are currently out of scope for Teams calling replacing desk phones. Shared Services caregivers, however, will transition between now and June 2020, when Teams replaces Lync/Skype (see next article down).

Active Directory Migration of SJH Kicks Off, Setting Stage for Epic

As a pre-requisite step for Epic deployment, we have begun a multi-phase transition of St. Joseph Health caregivers from their current SJH domain to the new ad.providence domain.

This transition will happen in waves, beginning March 23, with Southern California Shared Services caregivers currently on the legacy SJH domain. Once migrated, these caregivers will use their existing computer/network login and password to log into workstations as they do today. However, their initial logon to Azure web apps and O365 apps WILL change.
