Pivoting to Prepare for a Vaccine and IS & RESO Christmas Party

It was great to connect with IS & RESO on another Open Forum last week on December 1, with 1,800+ caregivers from across regions.

In addition to our cybersecurity, Modern Workplace updates, and intern introductions, we tried to give a brief update from our executive team on the preparations underway across the system to support the complex logistics of distributing what will be limited early supplies by state to our frontline, patient-facing caregivers. Thank you for your questions, many which were around the vaccine. I know there are many unknowns . . .

Update to OneDrive Migration Schedule

The schedule for file migration to OneDrive, which started earlier this year, is being extended, based on recent IS changes and caregiver feedback. Caregivers’ individual file shares (also called home drives, network drives, or personal drives), which are used for work-related storage and were modified or created after January 1, 2017, will be migrated to OneDrive in several phases in the coming months.

Citrix Remote Desktop Replaces Legacy Remote Desktop Applications

Caregivers who currently connect using the desktop client for Remote Desktop (RDP) should now connect through the PSJH Remote Desktop application published to the Citrix platforms. This will provide additional security features to ensure Providence resources are thoroughly protected. Additionally, the PSJH Remote Desktop application provides better performance and minimizes the impact on the Citrix Environment than existing Citrix MS Remote Desktop.

Consolidating Wireless Network Names

Establishing consistent network names at all Providence locations will help ease the way for our caregivers, patients, and guests in connecting devices (laptop, mobile, tablet, and personal devices) to wireless networks, allowing for seamless wireless connectivity when visiting any Providence facility.

Providence Launches DetectionMap to Display Neighborhood-Level COVID-19 Activity

Teams across Clinical Analytics, Healthcare Intelligence, Providence Global Center, and Information Security have collaborated to create the DetectionMap website as a community service to show neighborhood-level COVID-19 activity. This collaboration with Microsoft on the Azure cloud platform uses natural language processing (NLP) and machine learning, combined with our clinical data from daily patient interactions, and is intended to assist in day-to-day decisions.
