A Busy and Eventful Summer

I hope everyone is having a good summer and staying cool in these high temperatures.

Thank you to everyone who joined IS & RESO Open Forum on July 13 – over 1,800 of our combined IS & RESO team, once again!

Last month we celebrated the very important milestone of going live with Genesis. I am proud to say that, except for a few minor issues which are always expected in a deployment of this magnitude, implementation has been very stable. I know the teams continue to work very hard and I want to say thanks again and congratulations for such a huge achievement.

As I am sure you have all seen, there is a lot happening across Providence at this time. We, as well as other health systems nationally, continue to be challenged by significant headwinds that have resulted in unprecedented net operating losses. This has required us leaders across the system to take a hard look at all the different ways in which we can position ourselves to recover and emerge even stronger.

The changes to the regional operating model, are a direct result of this. I am enthusiastic by what these changes will eventually represent in terms of agility, more streamlined decision-making, and a true system approach for the benefit of our Mission. At the same time, I realize that these benefits will take some time to realize and that, in the meantime, these changes create some uncertainty, particularly for IS teams that directly align to clinical and regional operations. My leadership team and I are focused on defining the best way to align to the new structure, and we are committed to make decisions and bring clarity to all our caregivers as quickly as possible.

I hope everyone is finding time to recharge and have some fun. As it has now become a tradition, our amazing group of volunteers is getting ready for our annual summer virtual social on August 10. I hope you’re all planning to join one of our two time options and, if you have children at home, make sure they are ready to participate in some of the activities designed with them in mind, including some of our executive leaders reading books for the kiddos. As in the past, we will have a raffle fundraising to support our Mission and this is a great way to make a big difference.

See you there!
