A thank you for caregivers involved in the Providence Seward laundry dryer installation project. This opportunity was identified four years ago, and the new machines are now up and running as of early September. These new machines will help improve efficiencies in turnaround time to residents and patients while prolonging the lifespan of linens and reducing energy consumption. Rob Kurtz – Support Services Supervisor, Providence Seward Medical Center would like to share thanks to the below caregivers:
Joseph Price, EVS Manager – Providence Alaska Medical Center – Anchorage, Alaska
During the eight weeks, we utilized PAMC Laundry (124 miles away) for the bulk of our linen services. Joseph was instrumental in our overall success by coordinating with his team. We received deliveries of clean linen two-three times per week and sent our soiled linens to PAMC on the same rotation.
Russel Miller, Lead Linen Representative – Providence Alaska Medical Center – Anchorage, Alaska
Russel processed our orders of clean linens, often times waiting for late email orders to come in from me.
Providence Alaska Medical Center Laundry Team – Anchorage, Alaska
Thanks for living the mission and supporting the Seward community. We could not have done this without you.
David Fryxell, Facilities Manager – Providence Seward Mountain Haven – Seward, Alaska
Dave was our boots on the ground troubleshooter. He was integral in coordinating with the general contractor and subcontractors while they were onsite. As we started working through the unforeseen obstacles, his involvement was even more important.
Sonny Talens, Facilities Technician – Providence Seward Mountain Haven – Seward, Alaska
Blake Pullins, SeniorFacilities Technician – Providence Seward Mountain Haven – Seward, Alaska
Jefferson L Felton, Facilities Technician – Providence Seward Medical Center – Seward, Alaska
Darin Crabill, Facilities Technician – Providence Seward Medical Center – Seward, Alaska
We had to move out of our laundry room for this project, and the Facilities team set up the temporary workspace for us.
Gabe Walker, Facilities Technician – Providence Seward Mountain Haven – Seward, Alaska
Gabe made sure that the laundry team was set up with a computer and telephone to still be able to perform related work tasks while in the temporary space.
Heather Harney, Linen Representative – Providence Seward Medical Center – Seward, Alaska
Heather was vital to the success of setting up our temporary workflow and making sure we were successful with our operations during the project. When it came time to break down and move back into our own space, Heather’s involvement was needed just as much.
Novie Purigay, Linen Representative – Providence Seward Medical Center – Seward, Alaska
Novie kept her unwavering attitude as she always does and was undaunted by the delays and additional work and steps that were required during this downtime. She kept a calming presence for the team in the face of the challenge.
Brittney Schultz, Linen Representative – Providence Seward Medical Center – Seward, Alaska
Brittney altered her work schedule to make the workflow more successful during the project.
Rebecca (Becky) Cook, Linen Representative – Providence Seward Medical Center – Seward, Alaska
Becky is relatively new to the team, having only a few weeks on the job prior to the beginning of this project. She offered some fresh ideas to help during the project, some of which will continue and help us be more efficient moving forward.
Stephen (Steve) Keeter, EVS Technician – Providence Seward Medical Center – Seward, Alaska
Steve faithfully helped transport the clean linen deliveries to the temporary workspace and unpacked the linens from their shipping bins.
David Duprow, Design Construction Manager – Providence Real Estate Strategy & Operations – Anchorage, Alaska
David was our project manager, and integral to our overall success. As the challenges arose, he made sure the proper vendors were doing their part to follow through.
Dale Rahn, Executive Director Real Estate Operations– Providence Real Estate Strategy & Operations – Anchorage, Alaska
Dale played a big role in helping get this project to the start line and was supportive throughout the entire project.

Kory Nixon, Senior Security Officer – Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital – Hood River, Oregon
I would like to take a moment to recognize the exceptional support and compassion demonstrated by Kory Nixon during a recent emergency at the Family Birth Center. When a birthing emergency unfolded, Kory’s swift and thoughtful actions made a meaningful difference for both staff and the affected family during a very tense and emotional situation.
Kory stepped up without hesitation, assisting in any way he could. He held doors open and provided clear direction to staff members unfamiliar with the unit, ensuring the smooth and efficient movement of personnel throughout the center. Beyond his logistical assistance, Kory extended his compassion and understanding to the distraught husband and soon-to-be father, offering him emotional support during an incredibly stressful time.
Kory took the initiative to engage the father in conversation, recognizing the need for a calming presence. He offered his support and even accompanied the father on a walk to help him release some of his nervous energy. This simple yet profound act helped to bridge the gap between providing security and offering a compassionate, human touch to those in need.
His ability to maintain the balance between ensuring safety and extending kindness in a time of crisis is a true testament to his professionalism and character. Kory’s actions went far beyond his role, and he made a lasting impact not only on the family but on everyone who witnessed his dedication.
Kory Nixon is a true asset to our team, and I commend him for his exemplary service during this emergency. Sincerely. ~ Chris Harris – Senior Security Officer
