Robert Huss, Security Officer – Swedish Ballard – Seattle, Washington

I’d like to recognize Robert for his exceptional de-escalation skills, which he demonstrated in a recent situation involving a challenging patient on BHU. His ability to handle this difficult situation with professionalism and poise is truly commendable, and I believe his actions warrant recognition. ~ Ivan Tyson – Security Supervisor

Gregor Lutz, Finance Director – CBRE – Charleston, South Carolina

Shane Souders, Sr. Financial Analyst– CBRE – San Jose, California

Greg and Shane have provided awesome support over the last handful of months reconciling Genesis and E-Builder for the Hope Tower project. Due to its nearly decade long run as a legacy project through various accounting systems, there were many discrepancies and issues between the information in Genesis and how that matched with E-Builder. The team did a magnificent job in reconcile those issues and producing commitments and actuals that we can be confident in and manage from here forward. They were always prepared and met deadlines over the course of this effort, and I wanted to thank them for their contributions to this major project. ~ Mike Siwek – Executive Director Real Estate Operations

I find her leadership actions, behaviors, and decisions to continually align with all our values. She holds up high standards of excellence for her staff in the cleanliness and care of the health center’s facilities. Dion Hernandez, SeniorSecurity Officer – Covenant Medical Center – Lubbock, Texas

He demonstrates our values and promise when he is de-escalating a situation. When a loved one is in ICU, the families experience emotional distress with the situation. The machines attached to their loved one and the tasks that the medical staff must do to appropriately care for the patient is not a familiar scene. There are times the family interactions within themselves escalate due to the tensions that are present. Dion has a compassionate understanding of the scenario the loved ones are facing.  When Security is called to de-escalate aggressive behaviors in ICU – Dion seeks to understand the family concerns, calms them with such refined de-escalation techniques, and sets an expectation with them to manage their distress in a more appropriate manner for medical staff to provide the care in a safe and supportive environment. There are times when family members have sought him out to thank him for his support and understanding. ~ Cindi Kenady – Senior Director Environment of Care

Maria Lopez, PBX Operator – Covenant Health System – Lubbock, Texas

I received this from a manager of another department “Maria went beyond the call of duty helping me find the correct department that I was looking for. She was very resourceful and did not give up until we found the right person. She had a smile in her voice that portrayed that “I am here to help you”. So many times, we only complain with the negative aspects of interactions. This was a very pleasant experience and I wanted you to know that Maria is definitely a “keeper”. ” ~ Cindi Kenady – Senior Director Environment of Care

Josh Montano and Heather Riley, Principal Safety Officer – Covenant Medical Center – Lubbock, Texas

When Crowdstrike disrupted our computer systems at every entity in our region, Josh and Heather were at the helm of the Command Center, taking turns to cover through the night and weekend and then into the weekday. They worked closely to support IT as they were dispersing resources and working to find resolution to the situation. They both are very resilient and dedicated to working through emergent situations. ~ Cindi Kenady – Senior Director Environment of Care

Steven Schutt, EVS Technician – Providence Seaside Hospital – Seaside, Oregon

I would like to recognize Steve for having a questioning attitude. Steve is one of our newer caregivers and 2 times now he has had a questioning attitude about items he’s visualized in the trash in 2 separate areas; 1 was a syringe from a diabetic caregiver found in a garbage can. The 2nd was an IV with a retracted needle. Steve cared enough to bring it forward to help the caregiver understand the need to bring a sharps container in their car to work. The 2nd incident provided education for my staff on how an IV works. ~ Kathy Isom – EVS Manager

Scott Gregory, Environmental Services Technician – Providence Seaside Hospital – Seaside, Oregon

Scott has taken on the responsibility of making sure our very tiny recycle shed is kept somewhat organized.  Scott makes sure the Styrofoam is broken down so that more will fit in the shed between pick-ups.

On the eve of our pickup Scott makes sure that in good weather the bags are pulled out and tied off and in inclement weather – the bags are tied off and left in the shed and the overflow is brought to the loading dock.  I appreciate Scott taking on this responsibility, because for the last year or more I have taken on that job. ~ Kathy Isom – EVS Manager

Jeffrey Ramsdell, EVS Technician – Providence Seaside Hospital – Seaside, Oregon

Jeff goes out of his way to do quality checks on our cleaning van, replacing wipers, checking fluids, and topping them off, and alerting me of upcoming oil changes.  Jeff also takes the van in for the oil changes, and for tire changes. Matt Lorch, Senior Facilities Technician – Providence Kodiak Alaska Medical Center – Kodiak, Alaska

Antonio (Sonny) Basuel, Senior Facilities Technician – Providence Kodiak Alaska Medical Center – Kodiak, Alaska

Jose Holgado Jr (Juhn), Facilities Technician – Providence Kodiak Alaska Medical Center – Kodiak, Alaska

Tyler Steele, Supervisor Maintenance – Providence Kodiak Alaska Medical Center – Kodiak, Alaska

The front drive thru canopy at Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center has accumulated rust over the years due to the saltwater environment we experience. The hospital building is owned by the Kodiak Island Borough, so any projects over $25,000 must go through an approval process by the Borough. A few years back, a quote was obtained for just over $165,000 to prep and paint the canopy. Due to higher priority projects, the project was not approved.

From the entrance to the hospital, the canopy looked in disrepair due to the flaking rust and corrosion of the paint caused by the challenging weather we get in Kodiak. Under the canopy, the beams and roof decking were corroding, and the paint was heavily flaked. I spoke to the Borough and asked that if the Providence Maintenance Team took on the project, would we be allowed to perform the work ourselves. The Borough approved.

A lift was rented, and a high-quality marine paint was purchased to perform the project. Matt Lorch, maintenance tech, was put in charge to lead the project.  The project was coordinated with various managers in the hospital to make sure the project could be worked on without disruption to everyday business.

The maintenance team then installed a barrier around the whole canopy to protect any visitors from the work being performed and to protect from the challenging weather conditions we experience daily here in Kodiak. Matt, Sonny and Juhn then started the arduous task of sanding and prepping the underside of the canopy and all the corroded surfaces. During this time, Tyler Steele was covering all the maintenance, including pm’s during the 3-4 weeks this project lasted. Occasionally a member of the team had to be pulled away to help with a few work orders and or small emergencies.

The team worked tirelessly prepping all the structural metal making sure all of the flaking paint and rust was removed. There were 2 guys in the basket at a time with one on the ground as safety watch. They rotated out giving each other a break from all of the overhead grinding they had to do throughout each day. There are several tight places to work and at times getting a grinder into tight places presented some challenges but the team persevered and managed to prep all surfaces as required to accept paint. This work was strenuous and tiring but they trudged through each day feeling the aching muscles as they worked.

After roughly 3 weeks of prep, they were finally ready for paint. They finished the painting within a week and their hard work paid off. The canopy now looks awesome, and they really have a project to be proud of. The team has received several compliments from caregivers and patients on how great the front of the hospital looks. This is a great example of the resilience the Kodiak Maintenance team must self-perform work when project funds are not available. I am proud of this team for their hard work and ability to go above and beyond when needed. The front entrance to the hospital looks great and it reflects the great caregivers we have in this hospital here in Kodiak. ~ Victor Weaver – Senior Manager Facilities

Aubrey Lohrman, Design Construction Manager – Providence Real Estate Strategy & Operations – Olympia, Washington

Aubrey has successfully led numerous projects for PCH, demonstrating commendable due diligence and excellent communication. I can always rely on her to dot the I’s and cross the T’s. Currently, she is leading a project that has faced several challenges, including securing engineered equipment and coordinating contracted stakeholders that span across the nation. As a PM, that is her job, but with every job you can do status quo, or you can excel, Aubrey excels. I want to thank Aubrey for asking the tough questions and ensuring follow-through. I look forward to many more years of collaboration with her. ~ Ivy Anderson – Manager Facilities
