SoCal Office Move Supports Fiscal and Environmental Stewardship

Discovery Park

“I’m thrilled about the future space at Discovery Park! With its ease of access and amazing amenities such as outdoor spaces, it’s sure to be a fantastic place to work. The optimization of workspaces will greatly benefit our caregivers, and the lower costs for administrative spaces will allow us to focus more resources on caring for our communities. It’s an exciting time and I can’t wait to see the positive impact this new office will have!” -Alex Herr, Chief Real Estate Officer, South Division

Park Place in Irvine, CA is currently our corporate headquarters and home to many shared services departments and the South Division. Our lease is set to expire at the end of 2024, and with approximately 70% of space currently vacant, this is an opportunity to move to a location that is right sized for our workforce. We will be downsizing to approximately 45,000 square feet.

After an extensive search that considered a multitude of factors, we’ve decided to lease at Discovery Park, also in Irvine, CA, about 12-15 minutes east of Park Place. Discovery Park offers a smaller footprint that is better suited for our needs and will significantly reduce the overhead costs for the division.

Providence will lease both floors in one of the 31 buildings that make up Discovery Park. The property includes outdoor workspaces, on-site dining options, and excellent walkability to nearby restaurants and businesses.

A relocation of this size is complex. While most departments will be relocating to Discovery Park, others will be moving to different locations and on different timelines. More information will be shared as plans are finalized.

This move underscores Providence and RESO’s commitment to fiscal and environmental stewardship, ensuring that we use our resources efficiently while providing an excellent working environment for our caregivers. Stay tuned for more updates as we prepare for this exciting transition.

DISCOVERY PARK FAQS

Why is Providence relocating its corporate office in Irvine?

Two factors influenced our decision to relocate:

  1. Our lease at Park Place expires at the end of 2024.
  2. Park Place currently operates at a 70 percent vacancy rate (due to remote working).

With financial and environmental stewardship in mind, we made the decision to relocate. The cost savings will significantly reduce the South Division’s financial overhead.

Where is Discovery Park located?

Discovery Park is located in the Irvine Spectrum area, 6.1 miles (about 12-15 minutes) east of our current location. The address is 15460 Laguna Canyon Road.

Will this be enough office space for everyone currently working in Park Place?

Yes. There will be a combination of assigned and reservable office spaces based on the work needs of caregivers. We are currently working through office space details for hybrid caregivers. We will follow up with additional information once we firm up the details.

Will all departments at Park Place be moving to Discovery Park?

No. Our Patient Placement Center, which operates 24/7, will be relocating to PCN’s Anaheim building located at 200 W. Center St. Promenade. Providence Hospice Orange County South caregivers seated at Park Place will be relocating to the same building where Providence Home Health Orange County’s Mission Viejo branch is located at La Alameda. Providence Home Health Orange County South caregivers will be relocating to Venture Park located at 38 Executive Park in Irvine.

Is it true that leaders from PCN’s Anaheim building will be relocating to Discovery Park?

Yes. Leaders who currently occupy the eighth floor will relocate to Discovery Park. As we transform into an integrated delivery network, it’s important that we work closely with PCN leaders. Sharing the same office space allows for this.

During late Q3 we will be reviewing the building and developing a plan to optimize our utilization of the space.

South Division leaders have been notified to work with their departments to keep/remove documents (in alignment with our record retention policy) by October 1, 2024. Facilities will coordinate the pickup and digitalization of remaining documents with Iron Mountain. All scanning costs will fall under department cost centers.
