California Leadership Team Volunteers at Foster Love

The RESO leadership team in California recently had the opportunity to volunteer at Foster Love in Southern California, an organization with an amazing mission to support foster children across America and those transitioning into their adult lives. Thanks to Karen Papadakis-Hill’s coordination, the team spent a meaningful day giving back.

Good Times, Good Vibes, Great Teamwork

A Message From Alex Herr, Chief Real Estate Officer, South Division

I was very impressed by the Foster Love facility and their mission of meeting the community and serving where needed. The retail like atmosphere they created for young woman transitioning into life after high school was impressive and provides a great opportunity for shopping and work experiences.

Our initial goal was to complete packing of 65 boxes within 4 hours which is what the prior volunteer team had done. It’s no surprise that the RESO team is competitive. Once the Foster Love team told us what the prior team had done, our team set our expectations on exceeding the goal.

Our team found it stride quickly by creating a highly productive process which led us to quadruple the prior team’s output! In talking with those that were able to participate everyone had a great time giving back to the community in such a way that was fun team building activity that provides a positive impact to many people.

In the end, the RESO team was able to complete over 285 boxes and place Team Providence in the lead on the Pajama Party Scoreboard.

Alex shared this final takeaway: “Despite how busy we all are, take a half a day to give back as a team, it has long lasting positive effect for those you are serving and for those that you are serving with.”
