We at Mount Carmel have had a difficult 2 weeks here with a lot of extra deep cleans and laundry needed. My co-workers did all of the extra work on top of their already busy schedule. Emil Neiderer, electrician – Providence Alaska Medical Center – Anchorage, Alaska
Our facility had an extended steam shut down planned over the weekend and these gentlemen volunteered to come in their days off, Saturday and Sunday. They were here at 0300 to help prepare and stage materials in areas that were known to have leaks and they monitored the facility for 9 hours to ensure all leaks were caught. They then returned on Sunday morning to clean up and replace materials so there was minimal disruption come business hours on Monday. Their willingness to volunteer and help, as well as their positive demeanor so early on a Saturday morning was a reminder of how amazing the people of Providence really are. I am grateful and proud to be a part of their team. ~ Kathleen Sabado – maintenance supervisor
Dustin Corbitt, security officer – Providence Regional Medical Center Everett – Everett, Washington
An elderly gentleman was in the emergency department area, seemingly lost and visibly upset. His wife had been admitted for surgery, and he was feeling a bit displaced. He had attempted to locate his vehicle and was unable to due to the large parking garage and multiple lots that are at the Providence Everett location.
Security Officer Dustin Corbitt spoke with the visitor and offered to help him. The Visitor disclosed to Dustin that his wife would probably not be going home in quite some time as she had taken a fall and had been injured badly. The visitor was clearly distraught over the situation, and not thinking clearly. Dustin took the time to sit with the visitor and listen, along with driving him thru the lots and the garage to locate his vehicle. Over the course of the next 5 hours, Dustin provided a listening ear, food and comfort to the visitor. The vehicle was eventually located, and he was able to leave the property. Dustin provided exceptional care for a person who was vulnerable. He displayed the core values of what Providence stands for. It is an honor and privilege to work alongside employees like Dustin who go above and beyond for those in need. ~ Darla DeLay – senior security supervisor

Khryspatrick Jones, associatesecurity officer – St. Mary Medical Center – Apple Valley, California
Khryspatrick (KP) has been stepping up since he came to workday shift learning new things and being and all-around team player. On 6-18 and 6-19 Our day shift was short both our lead Officers and a post officer. KP showed his resilience and stepped in as the lead. He was able to keep the office running smoothly by being able to create badges, do video reviews, and all other offices duties with little to no help. KP also has to handle taking care of calls for service and handle the breaks and lunch schedules until I could get some officers to come in and assist. KP Showed his commitment to the department and the hospital by being able to handle the extra workload and maintaining his professionalism and enthusiasm when interacting with our disgruntled visitors and patients. ~ Manuel Romo – security manager
Gina Griggs, acute care RN – Queen of The Valley Medical Center – Napa, California

Jason Paslean, ARNP, nurse practitioner – Kadlec Regional Medical Center – Richland, Washington
I responded to two separate security calls in the last week, one on 6RP and one on 10RP that Paslean was an attending provider. Both were very difficult family situations involving patient updates that required security presence. I was blown away by Paslean’s not only professionalism, but his display of every core value and standard of excellence we strive for. I was in a situation with both incidents where I was balancing a visitor agreement/behavioral response for folks, and he took the kindness and compassion route with me. I felt seen by him and so did the family and patients in a very hard time for them. I felt I was able to accomplish my job role in setting standards of safety while not missing that human approach. Overall inspired by his demeanor and genuine care for these patients and their loved ones. I am proud to work with, for, and alongside caregivers like him. ~ Brittany (Jenna) Boyle – security officer
Santiago Richard, recreational therapist – Providence Mount St. Vincent – Seattle, Washington
His dedication to others. Special ones to the Residents. ~ Hipocrates Tiniacos – recreational therapist
Chris Gould, senior director environment of care – Covenant Medical Center – Lubbock, Texas
There was a fire with an ATS at Covenant Children’s Hospital overnight. When Chris learned of the incident, he investigated with the FE team to learn that ATS AS had a faulty controller which was preventing the ATS from switching between Normal and Emergency. This transfer switch serves the life safety for the North side of CCH ground floor through 4th floor, which is considerable risk to have in patient care areas.
Rather than waiting for an extended time to replace the faulty controller, thinking outside the box, Chris had the team pull the controller off ATS BA, which is the transfer switch for the equipment branch affecting the plant equipment. This reduced the risk to patient safety and the facilities team on having to transfer the switch by means of manual operation for LS systems.
Great job Chris on having patient care and safety as a top priority in your daily work! ~ Mike Siwek – executive director real estate operations
Kyle Gray, senior manager, design construction – Sacred Heart Medical Center – Spokane, Washington
Kyle recently received the Good Catch award at Kadlec Regional Medical Center for his commitment to advancing Patient Safety by ensuring that or Procedural Spaces are safe for Patient Care. Specifically, he was having a conversation with the OR Manager to let her know that their project had to be moved back one month. The reason for this is that he caught that a perforated duct work was being used which is not allowed for a healthcare facility. If left, the perforated material could lead to a host for dirt and other particles to collect and get through the duct work that leads to our procedural areas. With Kyle catching this and speaking up for safety, though painful in the moment with the delay, will make an unforeseen impact to our patients in the future. Great work Kyle!! ~ Jason Hunt – senior director design
Susanne Hegney, evs supervisor – Providence Mount Carmel Hospital – Coleville, Washington
Susanne has taken to her new role as Supervisor for EVS with ease. The last 2 weeks we had some major challenges for extra cleaning and unfortunately, I was out on family emergency. Susanne stepped up and kept in communication with me, but she made sure the team knew exactly what was going on and what was needed. She showed excellent leadership skills, communication skills, and integrity for the situations. I am so very thankful to have you as part of the team and look forward to see you grow in your role. ~ Rachel Morris – evs manager
Tania Carbajal Perdomo, evs supervisor – St. Joseph Medical Center – Burbank, California
I wanted to take a moment to recognize Tania for her outstanding performance during yesterday’s walk-through with the linen vendors. Despite being short-staffed and having to step in on short notice, Tania showed exceptional professionalism and poise in her delivery, engaging the audience and adeptly handling tough questions.
Her leadership skills were also evident as she involved her team in the presentation and gave credit to others for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the hospital, especially the linen storage areas. I was impressed by how she rose to the challenge and delivered a successful presentation under such challenging circumstances.
Tania’s hard work and dedication are truly appreciated, and I believe she deserves recognition for her outstanding performance. ~ Asif Khattak – senior director, environment of care
