Joyce Lorch, food services manager – Providence Kodiak Alaska Medical Center – Kodiak, Alaska
Joyce is my Manager of Dietary here in Kodiak. Dietary falls under RESO in Kodiak. Joyce manages the kitchen for the hospital and long-term care and faces many challenges with menu systems, rotating staffing between facilities, and just getting food at times in on the barge here in Kodiak. There have been changes with menu systems and the process for cooking meals at our long-term care lately. At times Joyce is under a lot of pressure to make these processes work and make sure strict diets are followed and nothing is missed, as it can affect a resident with a special needs diet within long term care. Joyce always goes the extra mile to make sure every detail is followed, and she always does it with a smile. Whenever faced with challenges, she never complains, she just takes it on and conquers.
Joyce has a great team, she cares about her team and whenever a teammate is unhappy, she takes time to listen to them and find a solution. Joyce has many long-term employees within her group, and she is successful at retaining them due to her caring nature.
Joyce has also been instrumental in helping the local high school’s special education work program. The program’s goal is to place students with learning disabilities in local companies to obtain real-world work skills, so they can obtain a job after high school. Joyce has students 2-3 times per week, for 1-2 hours per day, working in her kitchen with her staff. The program is working out very well within Dietary and Joyce is giving the students valuable skills to take with them after graduation.
Joyce has raised the bar here in Kodiak for quality of food and she has done such a great job, she is seeing more people within the community come in and eat meals in her cafeteria. Dietary can be a thankless job at times, so I just want to recognize Joyce for her hard work and to say “Thank You” for doing an awesome job! ~ Victor Weaver – senior facilities manager

As technology changes around caregiver communication and the devices we choose to carry, Terry has been instrumental in the deployment of AMS Connect across Swedish. As a member of Swedish Facilities Technology Services, Terry provides excellent customer service to Swedish caregivers to ensure their communication needs are met. ~ Jan Sblendorio – principal telecommunications engineer
