HI Operations Modernizing Deployment Process

The Healthcare Intelligence (HI) Operations Engineering team is implementing changes that may impact your code development and deployment methods. HI’s goal is to modernize its offerings and more efficiently provide products and services. This will be supported with a new orchestration requirement and deployment process.

Orchestration Requires Control-M

The HI Operations Engineering team now requires any new Informatica workflows (that require scheduling) to be called from Control-M for orchestration. This new standard is already being enforced. It enables more cohesive and effective monitoring across the enterprise. The team will not monitor or support new workflows scheduled outside Control-M.

CI/CD to Replace the HICAB Process on Jan. 23

On January 31, 2022, the HI Data Operations team will replace the HI Change Advisory Board (HICAB) process and change request form with the new Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) process. This will take place after the last January HICAB change management meeting.

To facilitate code deployments, the HI DevOps team has been working with multiple teams to develop the automated CI/CD process, which will allow developers to release without manual intervention. This process includes in-line code testing and validation, and significantly reduced deployment time.

HI will continue enhancing this process, but ask all developers to start now with the new method of deploying code to maintain consistency and efficiency across the Cloud Data Warehouse (CDW).  HI will also expand it to other areas, code, and languages, as needed.

For teams that have not yet started automating their releases, the HI DevOps team is scheduling a series of meetings to show you how to embed the release pipeline as part of your deployments. Look for invitations next week to workshops or office hours meetings.

HI is confident that its customers and patients will benefit from this more agile and streamlined approach to releasing relevant, useful products.
