Physician Enterprise Moves Forward with Epic Tapestry

[The following system leadership memo was sent by Kevin Manemann, EVP and Chief Executive of Providence St. Joseph Health Physician Enterprise, on Feb. 12.]

We are happy to announce that after an extensive system-wide review, we are moving forward with the Epic Tapestry Managed Care Solution. We feel the move to Tapestry will allow for tighter integration with our electronic medical record and revenue cycle systems, in addition to improved operational support. Tapestry is also quickly becoming the standard in many similar managed care groups due to its integration with the full Epic product suite, improving the experience for physicians, caregivers and patients.

Tapestry is a robust managed care solution that includes many new elements including:

  • Enrollment and Eligibility
  • Referral Management
  • Utilization Management
  • Case Management
  • Claims Management
  • Premium Billing & Capitation
  • Customer Relationship Management
  • Web Portals for Patients, Providers and Partners
  • Financial and Clinical Reporting

We are planning a phased rollout, starting with our Los Angeles and Oregon service areas; Heritage will follow with the Epic go lives. We are still partnering with Epic to evaluate the best strategy for Pacific Medical Centers’ Department of Defense plan.

Over the next few months, we will be working on program and governance structures and hiring a team to provide more dedicated support to this important transition. We expect to start working directly with regional leaders starting in April, and many of the operations subject matter experts this summer.

We will keep you apprised of further updates – in the meantime, if you have any immediate questions please reach out to me, Tabitha Lieberman or Michelle Strawn.
