Microsoft is phasing out Internet Explorer. Microsoft Edge will become our default browser Sept. 1.
Microsoft recently announced they are phasing out support of the Internet Explorer browser. Starting August 17, 2021, all Office 365/Microsoft applications will no longer be supported in Internet Explorer. Microsoft will end all support for Internet Explorer in June 2022.
Due to this announcement, IS has accelerated the adoption of Microsoft Edge as the preferred browser for interoperability and security.
Microsoft Edge will become the default browser for devices across Providence’s family of organizations on September 1, 2021.
What do I need to do?
Many of the web applications you use today are already compatible with Microsoft Edge. However, application owners are still transitioning legacy web applications to Microsoft Edge.
As that work continues, if you experience an issue with a non-Microsoft application while using Microsoft Edge, please copy and paste the URL into Internet Explorer. All web applications will be compatible with Microsoft Edge before Microsoft retires Internet Explorer in June 2022.
