TEO Leaders Make Good on Their WAN Tran ‘Hair Dares’

Last month, we celebrated the great news of us hitting our ambitious 2018 network transformation goals in the nick of time.

Shane, David, and Curtis show off their new look.

As the project leads and over 144 technical resources met furiously for scrum meetings and down-to-the-wire issue resolution for the final nine sites, TEO leadership threw down bold and highly-personal commitments to further inspire the team. If the final cutovers were successful and allowed the team to meet their target upgrading wide area network (WAN) design of 379 sites (75% of identified locations) by end of year, the following “hair-razing” promises were made:

  • Casey Viecelli, exec. director of field technical services, kicked the challenge off, offering to shave the heads of other members of the leadership team if the goal was met.
  • Then, Shane Kilpatrick, VP of strategy and architecture, offered to shave his eyebrows.
  • David Endicott, CTO and SVP of TEO, responded offering up his beloved mustache, cultivated with care since age 17.
  • Casey Viecelli and fellow exec. director of field technical services, David Meachum, acknowledging their already-baldness, offered to donate $1,000 to their favorite charity in the name of the WAN transformation project.
  • Curtis Cummings joined the high-stake shaving party by offering his goatee.

Well, as you now know, the goal was met! Clippers, scissors, and razors were wielded. Say hello to your newly clean-shaven TEO leaders when you see them next time and congratulations again for the great 2018 delivery on network transformation!
