During the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, IS Healthcare Intelligence (HI) launched the Daily Shift Screening (DSS) enterprise application. This app has provided a lightweight, verifiable way to manage caregivers’ symptom self-check surveys required before reporting for work, enhancing both caregiver and patient safety.
With over 1.5 million attestations from over 34,000 caregivers, the app was developed with official CDC guidance for mitigating the risk of COVID entering our facilities. Working with stakeholders in HR, RESO, and Caregiver Health Services, HI designed DSS to scale across Providence to replace the existing “pen and paper” processes.
Highlights since launch:
- 1.5 million attestations so far
- Less than 8 seconds average time to complete
- Caregivers can run DSS on personal devices anywhere
- Over 12,000 attestations per weekday; over 65,000 per week
- Covers over 34,000 unique caregivers at hundreds of inpatient locations
- Universal login accepts a wide variety of formats (p-/n- numbers, email, username)
Since launching, DSS has been deployed across many regions and states., including the Swedish, Southwest Washington, Northwest Washington, Kadlec, PHC, Washington/Montanta, Alaska, Home Health Care, and Covenant ministries. Upcoming rollouts including Providence Global Center, California, and Oregon.
Working closely with entry control points, HI has been involved in automating and streamlining these processes to increase efficiency and reduce the burden associated with staffing and wait times. As we analyze the needs of clinicians and other caregivers, we continue to find ways to take advantage of our tools and data in the evolving workspace environment.
