Consolidating Wireless Network Names

IS Network Services is consolidating wireless networks and establishing consistent network names at all Providence locations, including offices, hospitals, and clinics.

There will be four new wireless networks:

  • ProvidenceCaregiver
  • Ministry-Branded Guest (Swedish Guest, Kadlec Guest, Providence Guest, etc.)
  • ProvidenceMedical
  • ProvidenceVoice

The legacy networks will be decommissioned after successful implementation and connection to the new networks is achieved.

Why is this happening?
Establishing consistent network names at all Providence locations will help ease the way for our caregivers, patients, and guests in connecting devices (laptop, mobile, tablet, and personal devices) to wireless networks, allowing for seamless wireless connectivity when visiting any Providence facility.

When is this happening?
Starting in January 2021, the Network Services team will begin rolling out ProvidenceCaregiver and Ministry-Branded Guest networks to Providence locations per the schedule below. Communications will be included in your regional core leader and caregiver newsletters before each region’s specific roll-out date.

  • ProvidenceCaregiver
    • January 2021: Alaska and Montana
    • February to March 2021: Washington, Oregon, Southern California, Northern California, Idaho, New Mexico, and Texas
  • Ministry-Branded Guest (Swedish Guest, Kadlec Guest, Providence Guest, etc.)
    • Tentatively Q2 2021

ProvidenceMedical is already live, and ProvidenceVoice will roll out later next year. They are being used for connections for biomedical technicians, clinical engineering, and Providence-managed telecom devices.

The legacy networks will be removed starting in mid-2021. You will receive further communications when the removal process begins.

What do I need to do?
Most devices managed by Providence will be moved onto the new networks automatically. For personal devices, you will need to establish a new connection to the ProvidenceCaregiver network. Connect to this network with the same credentials you use for your regular computer login.
