In August 2020, Information Services began the process to retire SharePoint on-prem (SharePoint 2010).
We recently emailed IS caregivers listed as a site owner for an existing SharePoint 2010 site that will need to migrate. This includes both “orange” and “blue” SharePoint 2010 sites. Our goal is to equip caregivers with everything needed to migrate an old site to SharePoint Online. First step is completing an important survey that will help us determine how to support your site migration.

What do I need to do?
Today – Designate a migration lead (site owner) to be the point person for the migration. Migration leads must be site owners for all the sites for which they are leading migration efforts and may be designated as the primary owner and contact for migrated sites.
By October 2, 2020 – Have the migration lead complete the SharePoint Migration Survey for each site owned by your department. The form must be completed by October 2, 2020. This form will provide more information on the migration assistance available. Only site owners will be able to complete the form.
If a completed survey (link above) is not received by October 2, 2020, your site will be decommissioned and placed in read-only mode.
Between submission of your survey response and November 30, 2020 – You will be contacted about the next steps in migrating your site to SharePoint Online, which includes an automated process to move some of your content. If you prefer to begin migrating your SharePoint on-prem site(s) to SharePoint Online now, please visit the SharePoint Migration site and the Learning Portal for SharePoint Online resources.
