We want to hear if you have a technical solution that will facilitate the digital transformation of health care and the Providence Mission. Providence will pay a bonus of $500 to IS inventors for each original patent application filed.
You will need to complete an Invention Disclosure Document and submit it to the IP Patent Review Board. If the invention moves forward for a patent application and is patented, the creator will receive an incremental $1,000.
Why are patents important:
- Patents advance innovation by improving the level of care Providence can provide to our patients, as well as be licensed to third parties, such as other health care providers, so that they can use our innovations to improve their systems.
- Patents reduce the likelihood that another company will sue Providence for infringement of one of their patents and thus help preserve business and operating capital.
- A patent application, even if it does not ultimately become an issued patent, has a high value because these applications are published, available to the public.
- Patents provide benefits to the inventors. Being named on an application for a patent or a granted patent is valuable professional recognition for a caregiver/inventor.
- Applying for patents also increases caregiver creativity as it encourages caregivers to ideate and innovate, ultimately creating new products and technologies.
