Project Update: First Hill North Tower Construction – June 2024

North Tower construction advances: 85% of foundation is completed!

Concrete pours for the building footings, which create the foundation for the structure, are scheduled for completion in early July 2024. Over 6,000 cubic yards have been poured in the foundations to date.  Once this work has concluded, roughly 7,500 cubic yards of concrete will have been poured for the footings, enough to fill nearly 500 concrete mixer trucks!

As work proceeds, team members are backfilling with rock at the east side of the site. On the west side, reinforcing steel rebar is being placed to support the building’s concrete foundations. Preparation for shotcrete, or concrete sprayed at a high velocity, is underway on the south and west sides of the site. This will be used to create the underground exterior walls.

Underneath the concrete, work has also begun on installation of drain lines that run under the concrete slabs at the east side of the site for required building utilities, including plumbing.

Since January 2024, crews have worked diligently to construct the foundation of North Tower.  Roughly 7,500 truckloads hauled 150,000 cubic yards of dirt off the site. The site was excavated to its final depth of 52 feet from the surface. Concrete pours and utility installations wrapping up in July. Many more impressive updates will be shared throughout the life of the project.  For more information about the First Hill North Tower project, visit this site or email NorthTowerComms@providence.org.
