Team,
I am thrilled to announce a new initiative that aims to spotlight the incredible work of our frontline caregivers within the RESO organization. Our frontline personnel are the backbone of our mission, and their dedication and hard work often go unrecognized. We hope to change that by highlighting their stories, achievements, and the vital roles they play in our communities.
This month, I’m excited to feature our first caregiver in the series Brenda Clark, EVS Technician from Providence St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla, Washington. Jennifer Brown, EVS Supervisor and Brenda’s core leader, mentioned how much she enjoys watching her staff grow including Brenda, who recently received a scholarship to continue her education. Please join me in celebrating and learning more about her journey, experiences, and contributions.
What makes your role as a caregiver meaningful to you?
For me, the role of a caregiver is an essential part of serving my community. I believe every person deserves to feel valued and respected, regardless of their status. As a caregiver, I have the opportunity to offer a more personal, close-knit relationship with others, which makes my work incredibly meaningful. It’s not just about providing care; it’s about building connections and making a difference in people’s lives.
Any advice you’d give to someone starting out in a similar role?
If I were to give advice to someone starting out in a caregiving role, it would be to see everyone through the eyes of God. Everybody deserves love and kindness, and as caregivers, we have the unique ability to offer that. It’s important to approach each day with empathy and a willingness to understand and support those in our care.
What is your favorite thing about being a caregiver?
My favorite aspect of being a caregiver is the reciprocal nature of the relationships I build. I pour my care and attention into the people I help, and in return, they share their incredible life experiences and wisdom with me. Everyone deserves a listening ear, a caring heart, and to feel acknowledged. These interactions enrich my life and make my work truly rewarding.
What are some hobbies you enjoy outside of work?
Outside of work, I love going on new adventures. Traveling wherever the road takes me, with the windows down and the music up, brings me a sense of freedom and joy. These moments of exploration and discovery are invigorating and remind me of the beauty of life.
What skills or lessons from your hobbies do you apply to your work?
One important lesson I’ve learned from my hobby is that life is short, so it’s essential to do what you love. This mindset influences my approach to caregiving, reminding me to be present, cherish each moment, and bring passion and dedication to my work. By embracing this philosophy, I can provide the best care possible and make a positive impact on those I serve.
I’d like to thank Brenda for taking the time to tell us more about herself and what drives her. I hope you enjoy learning more about the incredible individuals who make RESO special. Stay tuned for more inspiring stories as we continue to highlight frontline caregivers.
