The First Hill North Tower project is underway and making exciting progress!
More than 30 team members are working on site supporting the early development and construction phases. Mass excavation, where dirt is removed from the site, is concluding. Over the course of several weeks, there were roughly 7,500 truckloads hauling 150,000 cubic yards of dirt off the site which is enough dirt to fill a Goodyear Blimp 20 times. The site has been excavated to its final depth, of which the deepest point is 52 feet from the surface, just shy of the length of a bowling lane. Excavation equipment is scheduled to be removed in early May 2024. Initial concrete structural supports are being poured and utilities like drain lines and electrical wire conduits have been installed.
Earlier this month, the North Crane was placed at the construction site to support future delivery of the North Tower. Standing at roughly the length of Lumen Field (346 feet), the crane is free-standing on a platform and can lift an impressive 44,000 pounds, roughly the weight of four ambulances. The second and final crane that will be added to the site is expected in Summer 2024.
Construction of the North Tower began in January 2024, and is tentatively expected to be completed in Fall 2027. The finalized 12-story building will offer modernization of previous facilities, and innovative services to support the developing needs of its community.
