North Tower Crane has Arrived at First Hill

The crane is a major milestone in the First Hill Expansion project.

SWEDISH FIRST HILL – The first North Tower crane has arrived at the North Tower construction site on First Hill. Delivery of the crane is a major milestone for progress of the North Tower construction project. This is the first of two cranes that will support construction of the new First Hill Towers, with the second crane tentatively set to be delivered sometime this summer.

Fun crane facts:

  • The crane stands as tall as half the length of Lumen Field at 346 feet.
  • The first 100-foot section of the crane was installed on March 16 and 17. The remaining 200-feet was vertically assembled using a self-jacking feature.
  • The crane is free-standing, so it’s not connected to the North Tower building site, and instead sits on its own platform.
  • The crane can lift 44,090 lbs., equal to the weight of about 4 ambulances.
