In this RESO Update, we are excited to highlight a Lesson Learned for a Critical System Infrastructure (CSI) project completed at the Providence Alaska Medical Center (PAMC).
PAMC Chiller 3 and Cooling Tower Project, where two new chillers were installed. Lesson learned that came from this project was to check the water quality in the chilled water loops. We found that the water quality was very low. We installed water filters and Pressure Independent Control Valves (PICV). PICVs regulate the flow of water or air to maintain a consistent temperature and pressure in the building. PICVs can help reduce energy costs and increase occupant comfort in climate-controlled buildings. Installing filters and PICVs can improve the water quality and increase efficiency and life of the equipment.
Project was led by Larry Mentzel and in partnership with Geoff Glass for scoping and Arne Vestad from International Water Treatment NA.
