A Note from Mike – December 19, 2023

Dear team,

I want to wish all of you a wonderful holiday season. This has been an amazing year with plenty of accomplishments to celebrate.

Throughout 2023, your efforts have had a positive impact and advanced our recovery and renewal. One of our successes is the sale of 29 non-strategic real estate assets this year, generating $96 million in revenue. Another is the spectacular savings initiatives that so many of you focused on, which reduced spending across the Divisions by more than $20 million. There have been so many people involved in these successes and I’m so proud of the great work that’s been accomplished to support our Mission.

It’s not just the savings that are impressive. More RESO caregivers are contributing to our Foundations. Your philanthropy in December helped us contribute over $6k to the Grace Campus transitional homeless shelter in Lubbock, Texas. Leaders throughout IS & RESO donated prizes for the Christmas Mission raffle. While not everyone could win something, I hope you appreciate the impact that our donations will have on the community.

As a leadership team, we want you to know that we’re listening to you and appreciate the transparent feedback we received in the annual Caregiver Engagement Survey. In a tumultuous year, we held steady on nearly every metric and dramatically improved our scores in some regions. We responded to the 2022 survey with programs to address 3 areas needing improvement and launched initiatives aimed at making it less burdensome to achieve productivity metrics while easing the burden that can lead to burnout and turnover. I think we can claim partial success, but know we still have room to improve. We will continue to focus on these areas next year.

I want to remind everyone of the progress made this year supporting our Environmental Stewardship and congratulate the 29 Ministries that received Practice Greenhealth awards, recognizing the great work that’s being done to move Providence towards carbon negativity by 2030. Providence is an industry leader in these efforts and you should be proud of the progress we’re making and the national reputation you have earned.

I’m looking forward to taking the momentum from our successes this year into 2024 and to continue building on our accomplishments. We’re creating a culture that is focused on achieving our financial targets while taking care of our teams and supporting our Mission. We’ll continue to work on innovation and technology solutions that make it easier for everyone in RESO to be successful.

None of our achievements this year would have been possible without the hard work of each person on the RESO team. Thank you again for all of the amazing contributions you’ve made.  Please take the time to reflect and be proud of the positive impact you’ve had on Providence and our communities.

Mike Denney
