Thank you for the ongoing support of RESO Excellence in this newsletter. We would like to the trial of an expansion of information we are gathering.
The 2022 RESO annual Caregiver Experience Survey, indicated that 55% of our Caregivers acknowledged significant action had been taken as a result of previous surveys. We would like to increase the sentiment. In response, we would like to expand the RESO Easy Button to include an Employee Experience option.
If an individual selects the Employee Experience path in the survey, they will be promoted to questions and free text areas where one might share experience as a Providence RESO caregiver. The collected responses will be considered by RESO leadership for continual improvement and sharing successes across RESO.
RESO Excellence remains your opportunity to acknowledge your peers for displaying our Core Value of Excellence. Every RESO Update, these nominations will be shared across the organization.
Valerie Johnson, principal safety officer– Providence Alaska Medical Center – Anchorage, Alaska
Valerie showed professional acumen, tenacity and excellent people skills in the management of a recent OSHA citation at the childcare center in Anchorage. The center, due to a confluence of events, had missed a deadline for a reportable event. Valerie led the interaction with Alaska OSHA demonstrating to them our dedication to safety and the unusual circumstances that led to the reporting delay. Due to her work and her collaborative efforts with the inspector she was able to show them that we have a robust reporting system in place and the $5,000 fine was waived. In the end the inspector complimented the Safety program and Providence’s openness. ~ Michael Kubler – manager emergency preparedness
Jesse Conklin, security officer – Providence Alaska Medical Center – Anchorage, Alaska
Going above and beyond his duties as an exceptional security officer, he has organized our office into a pleasant work environment! He has brought in furniture to make the office not so much an office. A while back, he installed a wood countertop for our metal cabinets. Recently, he brought in shelving to get some of the clutter off the countertop, and yet keep it accessible. You can tell he takes pride in his work and where he works! He and all he does is much appreciated!! ~ Robert Wendt – security officer
Shawn Fitzsimmons, supervisor environmental services – Providence Medford Medical Center – Medford, Oregon
Shawn’s commitment to our patients and their families does not go unnoticed. When our patients are in need of overnight accommodations, he is the one that patients & families connect with. The hospitality and service that Shawn and his team provide for patients who stay at our Guest House is recognized. Here is an example of one of our patient experiences while staying at the Guest House (via letter) who was compelled to pass along their sincere and heartfelt thanks to Shawn. Shawn’s kindness was a “beacon of light of God’s care, comfort and compassion” in my hour of need. Thank you, Shawn, for living our mission and being a true servant leader for our community. ~ Tina Landeros – executive director real estate operations

Kathy Isom, manager environmental services – Providence Seaside Hospital – Seaside, Oregon
Kathy is true servant-leader and demonstrates daily her willingness to share in the work. As Kathy pitches in to fold laundry, collect RMW, and less the burden on her team; she is also a savvy leader that is curious, open to learning and above all else openly shares what she learns with her peers across the region. She lives by her tagline “Phone A Friend” when she has questions, she reaches out to her colleagues at other ministries to see how they manage certain situations, to ask for advice and also to share her experiences. Kathy also “Phones A Friend” just to say hello and see how they are doing. Kathy stays connected and is highly respected by her peers, leaders, and caregivers; we are thankful to have a leader with her knowledge, experience and caring attitude on our team. Thank you for all you do! ~ Tina Landeros – executive director real estate operations
Kelly Flippen, senior director environment of care – Covenant Medical Center – Lubbock, Texas
Ubong Okpon, project manager – Covenant Medical Center – Lubbock, Texas
The TX/NM SWOT Team
The SWOT team has found several operational savings items this year and is effectively reducing our waste footprint in the process. One special one to call out is the creation of a composting program with a local farmer that will divert nearly all of our food waste from our two largest facilities (CCH & CMC). This not only makes a positive impact to our WEACT initiatives but also mitigates nearly $10K a year in operational expense of trash pickups. Great work team! ~ Mike Siwek, executive director real estate operations
Amber King, manager environmental services – Covenant Medical Center – Lubbock, Texas
Jaren Olive, supervisor environmental services – Covenant Medical Center – Lubbock, Texas
Susie Mendoza, supervisor environmental services – Covenant Medical Center – Lubbock, Texas
Really appreciate that our EVS Manager (Amber) and 2 Supervisors (Jaren & Susie) pulled away from their normal duties and pitched in with some extra cleaning at our Hope Tower project. The team at a moment’s notice jumped in and wiped down our 3 IDF closets with more thoroughness than our contractor could provide at the time. This was a necessary step in handing over critical path work to our IS team so they can continue to bring their network live for our opening. We really appreciate their willingness to lend a hand in time of need despite an overflowing schedule as is. Thank you! ~Mike Siwek, executive director real estate operations

During the closing conference of the QRO visit to Seward in September, Security Officer Leon Felix’s performance received special acknowledgement.
