Kevin displayed compassion and understanding by guiding the subject through the check-in process, clarifying the facility’s rules, and leading him to the patient’s room for a visit. Karen Santino, evs supervisor – Providence Centralia Hospital – Centralia, Washington
I want to recognize and thank Karen Santino, our Providence Centralia Hospital EVS Supervisor, for her foresight on our facility housekeeping needs. She has been working diligently to develop an EVS detail team. Pandemic staffing issues and prioritization of work over the last 3 years has allowed for the proliferation of wild dust bunnies, grout grime, and flooring that looks like it’s been scuffed with 60 grit sandpaper. With staffing back on track, we have a plan of attack! Last month the PCH EVS detail team stripped and waxed 15 patient rooms. The grout was deep cleaned and scrubbed in 15 patient bathrooms and 3 public bathrooms, we also were able to do nurse station and corridor deep dusting, and numerous additional projects. Surprisingly, instead of burning our team out, this work has built up our EVS team. The fruition of their hard work, recognition and appreciation from nursing leadership and staff, the team has become proud and motivated. I look forward to more innovative ideas Karen comes up with to drive our team with excellence. ~ Ivy Anderson – facilities manager
