How to Move Content from Shared Drives to SharePoint Easily

Many caregivers store files and documents on shared network drives. As we modernize our IS environment, shared network drives will be replaced by Microsoft SharePoint.

IS & RESO caregivers can now request to copy shared drive content to their designated SharePoint site. This process will reduce the need to manually move your content well ahead of the October 2022 sunset date.

Things to keep in mind

Request process

1. Complete the request form to begin the data copy cycle.

  • Both the shared network drive and SharePoint URL (web address) are required to complete the form.
  • The request must be approved by your core leader.

2. Email confirmation, along with a checklist, will be sent to the site owner when the data cycle has completed.

3. The owner should follow the checklist to complete the validation of the data copy, accessibility and set permissions.

Access to the shared drive will conclude 20 business days after the data copy cycle completes. We recommend all caregivers begin using SharePoint when accessing the files to reduce duplication and provide accurate version history.
