The Providence St. Joseph Medical Center projects kicked off in summer 2019. The Emergency department is scheduled for completion in May 2022 and will go live at the end of summer. The urgent care core and share has been completed with tenant improvement planned for completion at the end of the year.
When finished, the new emergency department (34,850 square feet) will have 48 beds (four are flexible beds) that are all private rooms, a dedicated imaging and a new urgent care clinic (8,500 square feet) The team also built a new oxygen yard that feeds the entire hospital, utilities relocations and electrical yard.
The project team had several challenges to overcome. Along with COVID challenges, there were supply chain and material shortages. From a design/ construction perspective the project was broken out in several packages with the City of Burbank and OSHPD to be able to continue working and achieve the targeted completion dates.
