Limiting External Emails and Send/Reply All in M365 Groups

Starting March 15, 2022, M365 Groups will automatically block emails from individuals outside Providence, as well as from devices (e.g., scanner, printers, etc.). Any group that has been receiving external emails over the past three months will be excluded from the automatic block setting. 

If you are a group owner and need to allow external emails for your group, please submit an exception request form.

There is also a recent change regarding Send/Reply All functionality implemented last month. Only owners and approved senders of M365 groups with 100 or more members will be able to Send/Reply All to their group. Members will still be able to Reply to sender, but not Reply All. Initially, this was only applied to groups with 200 or more members.

What do I need to do? 

No action is necessary unless your M365 Group needs to receive external emails, or you need to send or reply all to a large M365 Group. Contact the M365 Group owner to request permission. The group owner will submit an exception request to allow external guests to email the M365 group or submit a request form to add or remove the ability to send and reply all for members in a M365 Group.
