Justice Value in Action across IS & RESO

For our third article in the Living Our Values series, we focus on the Providence value of Justice.

The blues and greens in the artwork represent trust, stability and endurance, characteristics we must have when pursuing justice. The flowering strawberry historically represents righteousness and good works.

The following are some of the ways in which our IS & RESO caregivers exhibit justice:

  • From Shubham Shrivastava, software engineer 2 in Admin Technology:  “I have this wonderful team to work with and we thrive on Excellence with our technical expertise which in turn does Justice to the organization that we work for a combined goal of “Health for a better world”. I consider myself very fortunate to have chosen Providence, especially at this opportune midway point in my career.”
  • From Nitika Sharma, principal engineering program manager in Admin Technology: “US-India collaboration model was just getting started in AT when I joined PGC last year. There was some friction between the two teams at the grassroots level. There was confusion who can and cannot get access to cloud infrastructure related resources, operating mode, etc. I tried to listen to the perspectives of both sides separately and brought them in a common forum to iron out differences. Idea was to show respect to everyone’s viewpoint and form a working relation in a dignified way.”
  • From Nitika Sharma, principal engineering program manager in Admin Technology:  “Sense the undercurrents in the team and try to create a safe environment for everyone to ask questions. I noticed a team member was being cut off for asking questions a couple of times. I reached out to the respective team leads to understand the dynamic and raised concern around the culture this can lead to.”
  • From Melanie Hamilton, logistics administrator in the CI/ISSP pillar:  “I relate to the vision of ‘health for a better world’. I volunteer with the Audubon Society’s program “Backyard Habitat”. I do a lot of work with native plant restoration and noxious weed removal. The care of our greenspaces here in the PNW is near and dear to my heart. It isn’t exactly ‘medical’ related, but holistically having healthy forests, fields, wetlands, and wildlife, is good for our health as a population. I think by caring for nature and the animals that rely on it we create a better world for future and current generations.”
