During the January 19, 2021 IS & RESO open forum, Vincent Cassone, senior design and construction manager, provided updates on the new patient tower, new Building 1, clinical lab, NICU, Starbucks and elevator projects at California’s Providence Cedars-Sinai Tarzana Medical Center. Each project provides much needed upgrades and expansion for the delivery of care within the Tarzana, California community.
New Building 1
- Budget: $65.1 million
- Substantial completion: Oct. 31, 2022 (Phase 1)
- Size: 24,000 sq. ft.
- Features: Main Hospital Entrance, Admitting, Nuclear Med, GI, Heart Center and Prep & Recovery

New patient tower
- Budget: $199.6 million
- Substantial completion: Jan. 3, 2023
- Features: 182 new private rooms, a new 32-bed emergency department, more than doubling existing capacity
Neonatal intensive care unit (NICU)
- Budget: $7.1 million
- Substantial completion: Oct. 31, 2022 (Phase 1)
- Size: 4,100 sq. ft.
- Features: Renovated NICU
Clinical Lab
- Budget: $11.2 million
- Substantial completion: April 14, 2023 (Phase 5)
- Size: 5,098 sq. ft.
- Features: Renovating active clinical lab in five phases, requiring multiple relocations and equipment shifts
Elevator project
- Budget: $3.4 million
- Substantial Completion: Dec. 31, 2022
- Features: Replacement of exterior walls and framing at elevator shaft in Building 2
Starbucks at the Cube Building
- Budget: $1,7 million
- Size: 1,375 sq. ft.
- Substantial completion: Aug. 1, 2022
