Looking Toward our Transformative OCHD Epic Go-Live on May 15 and Beyond

Our May 15, 2021 Epic go-live across legacy St. Joseph Health Orange County/High Desert includes five hospitals, 200+ clinics, Home Health, all the ancillary services, and the delegated health plan. We will be going live with 30 Epic modules including Tapestry managed care and 90+ additional applications. This will be the largest single go-live Providence has done and in the top 10 of all Epic go-lives worldwide.

Between now and September 2021, we have the OCHD go-live, a required Epic upgrade, and the Northern California go-live. We also a have a significant portfolio of projects, growth and optimization for the whole organization.

Between all the known large projects and the organizational roadmaps planned at the end of 2020, we are not able to add new, unfunded project work.  Currently, we have 800 initiatives queued up or underway, and an increase in new requests.  We will continue to work with our governance groups and the new councils to find solutions, but supporting commitments already made, including the One EHR rollout, means we will need to augment our team or schedule the work for later.

Providence’s commitment to a single EHR is a true differentiator and we have seen the value in many ways, including our ability to support COVID-19 and vaccine management. By this time next year, we will have completed that journey for another 16 hospitals and thousands of providers.
