Teams across Clinical Analytics, Healthcare Intelligence, Providence Global Center, and Information Security have collaborated to create the DetectionMap website as a community service to show neighborhood-level COVID-19 activity.
This collaboration with Microsoft on the Azure cloud platform uses natural language processing (NLP) and machine learning, combined with our clinical data from daily patient interactions, and is intended to assist in day-to-day decisions.
It is being release internally within Providence before opening it up to the public.
DetectionMap features include:
- Analyzing current data, updating every 24 hours
- Showing local disease activity using color heat mapping
- Zoom-in, rewind, and trending over time
- Analysis of 80,000 new encounters each day using natural language processing (NLP)
- Innovative AI methods to identify local disease activity using syndrome and test data
- HIPAA compliance with appropriately deidentified data to preserve patient confidentiality
Only areas served by PSJH are in scope now, but the goal is to partner with other health systems in the future.
