Internet “proxy-in-the cloud” will be rolling out and enhancing our cybersecurity posture at Providence.
In the past, our network protections extended only as for Providence devices connected to a Providence network. Incorporating an internet proxy-in-the-cloud approach will enable us to extend cybersecurity and policy monitoring to all Providence devices, both remotely and in the office.
This technology adds a layer of security to web browsing that we haven’t had before, protecting our caregivers wherever they are. We will also ensure seamless access to internal resources, as well as the speed needed to provide care to those who need it the most.
More details
Cloud-based internet proxy – Allows us to enforce cybersecurity policies and control on Providence-owned devices no matter where these devices are in the world. It will also route internet traffic, screen for malware, prevent loss of sensitive data, and enforce web policies in place at Providence.
Always-on VPN – Soon your Providence-issued PC will automatically connect to an always-on VPN, enabling access to intranet sites and resources without having to push any buttons or enter any codes.
Network data loss prevention – This technology is in place on Providence sites and designed to protect patient confidentiality, limiting the risk of exposure of sensitive data.
Encrypted traffic monitoring – We will be monitoring most internet traffic on Providence-issued devices, regardless if they are on the Providence network or remote. We will exclude some internet traffic, such as financial institution websites, consumer health sites, or other sites known to be personal to our caregivers. Monitoring policy and encrypted traffic for cybersecurity is an important step to keep our enterprise safe from cyber threats.
