Welcoming HRIS caregivers to IS

CIO B.J. Moore and Chief People Officer/HR EVP Greg Till shared the following memo with IS and HR core leaders on April 13announcing that IS will welcome HRIS caregivers into IS. Approximately 40 caregivers supporting HR technology will transition to IS’s Enterprise Business Applications and Administrative Technology groups, effective May 10. Welcome to the IS family, HRIS caregivers!

Dear IS and HR core leaders,

As we continue our Shared Services modernization journey, we are taking steps to simplify and better align the technical resources supporting Human Resources, better serving our caregivers and providing career development opportunities for technology specialists and analysts supporting HR systems.

Beginning May 10, 2020, our current HRIS organization will transition into the Information Services organization led by B.J. Moore, Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer. A smaller number of roles will remain within the HR Strategy & Operations group.

This move will enable us to deliver technology and platform-supporting services to HR more seamlessly, and benefit our caregivers by offering greater alignment of roles, responsibilities, and accountabilities for our teams. It also presents real opportunities for our caregivers to explore their interests and learn different business processes, technologies, and applications to expand their careers – particularly as our business and technology needs continue to evolve.

HRIS managers and directors will transition into the IS leadership team, effective May 10. HRIS caregivers will continue to report to their current HRIS managers, except for caregivers supporting the HR Service Portal, who will report to an IS core leader on May 10. (See the organizational details below.) Then, effective June 21, 2020, our St. Joseph Health HRIS caregivers will also transition from Workday into PHS Lawson, as part of the foundation for our new ERP implementation.

Below is a summary of realigned teams:

As part of our efforts to minimize disruption and enable as seamless as possible a transition for our caregivers, there are no immediate plans to create new leadership positions. We anticipate the integration process will be gradual for the HRIS applications teams, given the large number of active projects in their portfolios. As our work continues to evolve, we will move toward tighter integration between the teams to enable increasingly seamless support and delivery of services.

Frances, Doug, and Lynne remain committed to sharing this information timely and in the most respectful and compassionate way possible to ease the way for caregivers who are transitioning. All three of them are happy to answer any questions you may have.

As a part of this transition, Janet Okimoto, the leader of the HRIS team, will be leaving Providence St. Joseph Health. Janet’s legacy over eight years of service to PSJH includes leading the St. Joseph Health transition to Workday, merging the SJH and PSJH HRIS teams and providing invaluable technical expertise for our HR modernization efforts. Please join us in thanking Janet for her service and in wishing her well as she begins the next journey in her career.

We appreciate your flexibility and support as we align to best serve the needs of our caregivers and sustain our long-term PSJH Mission with this exciting new chapter for our HR-supporting technologists and analysts.

Thank you.
