New Power BI Tools Available

We’re rolling out Microsoft Power BI, the interactive data visualization standard within our Modern Workplace tools offering. With Power BI, you can connect to an Excel spreadsheet, cloud resources, relational and NoSQL databases, Data warehouses, flat files, Big Data tools, and much more, then create powerful dashboards. Power BI can help you track the metrics you care about the most, or drill down and ask questions about your data.

Power BI is available now. There are three Power BI applications available based on your needs.

  • Power BI Service supports light report editing and collaboration of reports and dashboards. Service is available through the MyApps portal.
  • Power BI Desktop is a complete data analysis and report creation tool providing features to data modeling and design. Refer to Knowledge Base Article KB0064522 – What is Power BI Desktop?, located on ServiceNow Self-Service Portal for Power BI Desktop installation instructions.
  • Power BI Mobile is a focused mobile collaboration on reports and dashboards. Refer to KB0064522 – What is Power BI Desktop? for more information.

What do I need to do?

To build or edit Power BI reports/dashboards, download the Power BI Desktop application.

If an On-Prem Gateway is needed for your reporting needs, submit an IS-toIS ticket in ServiceNow for the IS Power BI Service Team.
