March 9, 2020 Update: See new link to the recording of the first-ever quarterly Patent Process Informational Session on March 5 in “More information” section, below.
IS is increasingly developing new, often ground-breaking technologies to facilitate the digital transformation of healthcare.
When a caregiver engages in such development, PSJH would like to obtain patents for these developments. Patents benefit both our Mission and the inventors. Beyond financial compensation, being named on an application for a patent or a granted patent is a significant professional recognition for a technologist.
Curious if this might apply to work you’re doing?
- Review the Patent Process Handbook.
- If applicable, fill out both the Invention Assignment Agreement and the Invention Disclosure Form, and submit both to ISPatent.Review@providence.org.
The IS Patent Review Board will review all submissions at the end of the quarter and award $500 for any correctly completed invention disclosure forms. In addition, if the invention moves forward for patent application AND is patented, the creator will receive an incremental $1,000.
As the process application can cost up to $50,000 in fees and legal support, the board will review for potential business value; not all will move forward to a patent application.
There will be quarterly patent informational meetings to address inventors’ questions regarding the patent process and the invention disclosure form. Look for an invitation coming in future weeks to an informational session we hope to hold in March.
