PSJH IS Partners with Microsoft to Offer our Caregivers the Cloud Skills Challenge

Our CIO B.J. Moore and our leadership have been talking about the exciting transitions to the cloud and our work to transition our Orangewood data center. You may be one of the caregivers highly involved in that effort or just hoping to learn more as we prepare to do more exciting work in the cloud. Either way, we need to accelerate the training journey for our Information Services team here at Providence St. Joseph Health and offer our caregivers the type of training and development to help us pivot to the future!

Information Services is partnering with Microsoft and inviting our IS caregivers to participate in a 30-day learning challenge that kicks off on June 24, 2019. This challenge will allow participating team members to TRAIN UP on the cloud and Microsoft Azure, follow our learning progress against our peers and even win cool prizes based on total points earned for completing training on Microsoft Learn.

Microsoft Learn offers:

  • Free, interactive, step-by-step tutorials
  • Hands-on learning coding environments
  • Knowledge checks to validate learning

How the Challenge Works:

Before June 24

  • Sign up for a Profile on Microsoft Learn if you don’t already have one. You are encouraged to use your name in your username for ease of tracking.
  • Register for the PSJH Challenge at https://aka.ms/PSJHChallenge. (You will need to enter your MS Learn username to participate.)

June 24-July 23

  • Starting June 24th, starting earning progress points through time spent on Microsoft Learn. (Only points earned June 24-July 23 will count towards the challenge and prizes.)
  • Track your progress on the leaderboard at https://aka.ms/psjhleaderboard (The Contest Growth column determines your rank on the leaderboard. The leaderboard updates every 24 hours.)

The Cloud Skills challenge is a fun, interactive way to learn the skills you need for us to be successful in Azure, so please invest in this training opportunity.

Your participation is optional, but participants have a chance at the following prizes:

  • The top participant with the highest contest growth will be eligible to win (1) Surface Headphones + (1) t-shirt.
  • If we have more than 50 active participants, the grand prize will be upgraded to a Surface Go laptop!
  • Eight (8) runners-up on the leaderboard will receive t-shirts. Only (1) t-shirt per person.
  • Anyone who reaches Level 5 on MS Learn will be entered in a raffle for (1) Surface Headphones + (1) t-shirt. Every level you reach past level 5 will earn you another entry into the raffle. For example, if you hit level 10, you will receive 6 total entries to the raffle.

Remember, only points and levels earned during the challenge (June 24-July 23) will count towards the prizes.

Please let program lead Jason Forbes, engineering director, know if you have any questions.

If you have questions or need technical support with the challenge or registration, you can reach the Microsoft team by email and you can also request to join the Cloud Skills Challenge Teams channel.
